Shine, Phoenix Nuclear tout generator uptime

Shine Medical Technologies and Phoenix Nuclear Labs announced that they have successfully operated their accelerator-based neutron generator for 132 consecutive hours, with an uptime of more than 97%.

The accomplishment demonstrates the strength of Phoenix Nuclear Labs' neutron generator, a key technology for Shine's medical isotope production facility, the two firms said. The generators must run for approximately 132-hour cycles to ensure consistent delivery of molybdenum-99, the raw material for the radiopharmaceutical technetium-99m.

The run was conducted between March 14 and March 19 in Monona, WI. Shine expects to begin construction of its medical isotope production facility in Janesville, WI, within the next year, it said.
