Siemens Healthineers subsidiary PETNet Solutions and partner Loma Linda University Health in Loma Linda, CA, have begun operations at a new molecular imaging PET production and research facility.
The center, located on the Loma Linda University Health campus, includes a research radiochemistry lab operated by the university and a radiopharmacy and commercial production facility operated by PETNet. The facility has two cyclotrons: one for research and one for commercial operation, Loma Linda University Health said.
The first project at the new center will be to finish an ongoing U.S. Department of Defense study on neuropathic pain in patients with spinal cord injury. The site will also supply clinical doses of radiopharmaceuticals used to help diagnose cancer and other diseases, according to the university.
