Niche MRI developer Magna-Lab has retained medical device maker ACT Medical to manufacture its products for final testing and clinical evaluation at Magna-Lab's test site, the Zena and Michael A. Weiner Cardiovascular Institute of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Magna-Lab is working with the New York City-based institute to develop a catheter for MRI scans of the coronary arteries.
ACT will be responsible for manufacturing, engineering, documentation, and production of units for use in clinical studies with humans later this year. The Syosset, NY-based firm plans to complete this work this summer and commercialize its technology as soon as possible after the testing is completed.
