Niche MRI developer Magna-Lab has completed pre-production animal testing of its Cardiac View imaging device, and has instructed its manufacturing partner ACT Medical to begin manufacturing production-quality units.
Cardiac View is a disposable device used in conjunction with MRI scanners to image the heart and surrounding arteries, according to Syosset, NY-based Magna-Lab. The device is placed noninvasively in the esophagus behind the heart to enable more effective use of MRI imaging to detect coronary artery disease, including the detection of plaque believed to cause sudden massive heart attacks, according to the vendor.
ACT Medical is working on a 510(k) application for submission to the Food and Drug Administration, according to Magna-Lab.
