GE buys high-field MR developer Magnex

GE Medical Systems has served notice that it won’t be left behind in the very-high-field MRI marketplace. The vendor announced today that that it had acquired Magnex Scientific’s clinical business, an Oxford, U.K.-based designer and manufacturer of high-field MRI magnet systems.

The new company will be called GE Medical Systems Oxford Magnets. Financial terms were not disclosed, however, Waukesha, WA-based GE said it will receive more than 50 scientists, engineers, and a manufacturing team based in the United Kingdom.
