Philips Medical Systems has received FDA 510(k) clearance for the 0.6-tesla open version of its Infinion MR scanner line.
Infinion 0.6T has a C-arm design with side-first patient entry, a 42-cm field-of-view, and homogeneity comparable to a cylindrical 1.5-tesla scanner. The system was approved last month, according to the Bothell, WA-based vendor.
It was developed at a Philips facility in Helsinki, Finland (formerly a Marconi Medical Systems facility). Marconi, which Philips bought last year, received clearance for the 1.5-tesla version of Infinion a year ago.
