SFVA to open neurodegenerative imaging center

The San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center plans to open a center for imaging neurodegenerative diseases in late 2003. The facility will feature a high-field MRI/MR spectroscopy system, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs.

A joint program of the San Francisco VA Medical Center and the Northern California Institute for Research and Education (NCIRE), the center has received a $2 million grant from the NIH for the $3.4 million imaging system. NCIRE will provide the balance of the funds.
