GE gets FDA nod for Excite 3-tesla unit

GE Medical Systems has received Food and Drug Administration clearance for its Signa Excite 3-tesla MRI system. Employing GE's Excite technology to improve the speed and resolution of MR imaging, the scanner offers a full 45-cm field-of-view, and allows for neurovascular, orthopedic, abdominal, and cardiovascular applications, according to the Waukesha, WI-based vendor. It also includes a 60-cm bore diameter, offering patient comfort and a small footprint for easy installation, GE said.
