MRI-compatible device developer Biophan Technologies of Rochester, NY, received funding and equipment support from two sources to help advance its technologies.
Biophan was awarded $1 million from the 2007 U.S. Department of Defense appropriations bill to develop its Myotech MYO-VAD minimally invasive cardiac-assist device, designed to increase survival rates of patients suffering from heart failure.
In addition, the New York State Office of Science, Technology and Academic Research sent the firm $309,000 in equipment for nanomagnetic particle R&D in both MRI imaging and drug delivery.
