(Booth 3339) Italian MRI vendor Esaote of Genoa will take the RSNA stage to launch S-Scan, a new musculoskeletal MRI scanner specifically designed for scanning joints, including lumbar and cervical spines.
The 0.25-tesla scanner is based on a permanent magnet design in an open, C-shaped configuration. A swiveling patient table improves patient comfort and makes positioning easier, as most scans can be conducted with most of the patient outside the gantry, according to the company.
Esaote said that S-Scan completes the company's line of dedicated musculoskeletal systems, which include C-Scan, Opera, and G-Scan. G-Scan is a tilting MRI scanner designed for performing weight-bearing exams, and can be installed in as little as 250 square feet (25 square meters). Esaote will show G-Scan in its RSNA booth as a work-in-progress, as the system is not yet available for sale in the U.S.
