Breast MRI developer Aurora Imaging Technology is debuting its AuroraBiopsy system for its 1.5-tesla dedicated breast scanner at this week's RSNA 2007 meeting in Chicago.
AuroraBiopsy is a computer-automated and fully integrated MR-guided biopsy system. Needle placement can be coordinated with the system's integrated scan console and image acquisition software, and displayed on a computer screen. Physicians no longer need to perform manual calculations, then count grid squares to determine needle placement, according to the Andover, MA-based company.
AuroraBiopsy can also target multiple lesions in the same breast or both breasts in a single procedure, and its patient table provides the physician with the largest access area to the breasts for both medial and lateral approaches. It features breast stabilization paddles for wide access to sample small or large breast sizes, and includes a needle-guidance procedure that accommodates all current core biopsy or vacuum-assisted biopsy devices on the market today, Aurora said.
