Philips Healthcare of Andover, MA, has partnered with image-guided therapy firm BrainLab of Munich, Germany, to offer MRI scanning for the operating room that includes imaging and visualization capabilities during brain surgery.
Montreal Children's Hospital of the McGill University Health Centre launched a new combined MRI/operating room suite for image-guided neurosurgery and is using a Philips Achieva 3.0-tesla X-Series MRI scanner coupled with BrainLab's BrainSuite iMRI.
BrainSuite iMRI uses a digital navigation system to show the spatial position of surgical instruments combined with 3D MR images of the brain acquired by the scanner, Philips said.
