Philips Healthcare is debuting a number of new radiation oncology offerings at this week's American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) annual meeting in San Diego.
The Andover, MA-based firm will spotlight Panorama High Field Open (HFO) Oncology Configuration, an MR scanner aimed at dedicated oncology use. The version employs a flat tabletop -- similar to what is used on a radiation treatment system -- and utilizes an external laser positioning system for patient alignment and marking, Philips said.
In addition to dedicated MR examination protocols to streamline clinical workflow integration, Philips said it has also included a quality assurance package for evaluating image distortion.
In other ASTRO introductions, Philips will present new capabilities for its Brilliance CT Big Bore scanner, including 4D imaging, a toolkit to evaluate organ motion, technology to help clinicians view critical structures near the sites of dense metal objects, and a tool that allows clinicians to "mark" an area for treatment and then initiate treatment via one workstation, according to the vendor.
