The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) Foundation and Toshiba America Medical Systems have announced the 2016 winners of the Safety First grant program.
Hartford Hospital of Hartford, CT, and Boca Raton Regional Hospital in Boca Raton, FL, will both receive grants to improve radiologic technologist safety in their radiology departments, the ASRT and Toshiba said.
At Hartford, the grant will be used to install an overhead lift to decrease the risk of neck and back injuries to RTs who help patients rise from a lying position. Boca Raton will use the grant to purchase metal-detecting wands, pivot disks, MRI walkers, and transfer boards to reduce the risk of technologist injuries, missile effect accidents, and burns.
