Philips Healthcare plans to highlight new tools and services for integrated imaging and treatment planning for radiation oncology at the upcoming American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) meeting in San Antonio.
New tools include the company's orthopedic metal artifact reduction software, O-MAR2, for MR imaging, which improves visualization of tissue surrounding orthopedic implants. O-MAR2 is pending U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance.
In addition, Philips plans to announce that its MR-only simulation, an upgrade to the Ingenia MR-RT radiation therapy platform, is pending 510(k) clearance. The upgrade is intended to provide electron density and anatomical information for prostate dose calculations in one MRI session, according to the firm.
Philips will also highlight the following upgrades:
- Version 4.2 of its Pinnacle3 14 software with Tumor LOC treatment planning program
- Its iPatient platform, which can reduce CT scan times in some cases up to 24%
- Ingenia MR-RT upgraded with a thin couch top and coil support
