Zonare files counterclaim against SonoSite

Ultrasound technology developer Zonare Medical Systems has filed a patent infringement counterclaim against SonoSite.

In its claim, filed March 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California in Santa Ana, CA, Zonare alleges that SonoSite infringes the Mountain View, CA-based firm's U.S. Patent No. 6,980,419, entitled "Portable Ultrasound Unit and Docking Station." SonoSite of Bothell, WA, filed its own patent suit against Zonare last month.

Zonare is seeking an injunction against future sales of SonoSite products that it claims infringe, as well as damages for past sales.
