The American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) has tapped Dr. Neil Weissman as its new president.
Weissman, who will serve for a one-year term, is president of MedStar Health Research Institute, a professor of medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine, and director of the Cardiovascular Core Laboratories at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC.
In an address at ASE's annual scientific sessions this week in Portland, OR, Weissman told members that the society is well-situated to lead the use of cardiovascular ultrasound. He also said that he envisions the society embracing a larger sector of caregivers using cardiovascular ultrasound in a more diverse manner to improve patient care in a growing number of clinical settings, according to ASE.
