Women's imaging vendor Hologic reported record fiscal first-quarter revenues of $66.2 million, up 33% compared with the $49.9 million posted in the first quarter of fiscal 2004. For the period (end-December 25), the Bedford, MA-based firm had net income of $4.6 million, compared with net income of $1 million a year ago.
Hologic attributed the gains to its mammography operations. During the quarter, a record 50 Selenia full-field digital mammography (FFDM) systems were installed and recognized as revenue, according to the firm. Product sales of Hologic's analog mammography units and MultiCare breast biopsy tables also increased for the quarter.
