Mercury touts 3D mammo reconstruction gains

Mercury Computer Systems said that image reconstruction time for the 3D mammography developed by partner Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston has been cut by five hours to five minutes.

The performance gains were achieved using technology from graphics firm Nvidia, according to Mercury of Chelmsford, MA. Mercury and MGH are working together to move the digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) technique from the laboratory to widespread clinical use, according to Mercury.
