Women's imaging firm Hologic reported revenue growth in both its fourth-quarter and year-end financial results (end-September 29), although it sustained net losses for both periods.

The company's net income for the quarter came in at $50.5 million, down 38.9% from $82.7 million in 2017, which Hologic attributed to a $34.8 million charge associated with the settlement of a patent infringement dispute with Smith & Nephew.
On a business line basis, total revenue in Hologic's Breast Health segment for the quarter was $254.5 million, up 5.4% compared with the same period in 2017.
For the year, Hologic reported revenue of $3.2 billion, up from $3.1 billion in 2017. The company sustained a net loss for the year of $111.3 million, compared with income of $755.5 million in 2017.
