A recent report published in JAMA Network Open found that cancers among people under 50 years of age have risen slightly, with the largest increases seen in people between the ages of 30 and 39.
In particular, women have experienced these increases more, with cases rising most for gastrointestinal, endocrine, and breast cancers.
Stamatia Destounis, MD, from Elizabeth Wende Breast Care in Rochester, NY, spoke with AuntMinnie.com on these trends and how advancements in cancer screening technology may contribute to them. Destounis, who is chair of the American College of Radiology's (ACR) Breast Imaging Commission, spoke about how radiologists should better prepare themselves in addressing new cancer cases and patient concerns.
