The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared disposable products developer Merit Medical Systems' Scout MD surgical guidance system for breast cancer treatment.
Scout MD supports implantation of up to four different reflector configurations, which then identify the location of the tumor for targeted removal, the company said.
The new offering broadens Merit's oncology lineup, which currently includes its Scout Radar Localization with Mini Reflector, Scout Bx delivery system, and SAVI brachytherapy system.
