Biophotonic imaging technology developer Xenogen has launched a new 3D software package that enables researchers to visualize biological processes in living animals.
Called Living Image Software 3D Analysis Package, the software is designed to provide more spatially accurate and quantitative data than current software, and includes new tools that enable scientists to quantify and more accurately locate in three dimensions the signal strength of bioluminescent reporters, or glowing "tags" that light up targeted biological processes, in living animals.
Prior to the software release, the location and strength of a reporter measured in Xenogen's IVIS imaging systems could only be done on a flat 2D plane. The software is designed to run on the company's upcoming IVIS Imaging System 3D, available later this year, and is also compatible with the firm's IVIS Imaging System 200.
