Dear Advanced Visualization Insider,
3D is playing an increasing role in today's imaging practice, but choosing to organize a dedicated 3D lab comes with its own pros and cons. And even if you decide to go ahead with one, there are still plenty of issues to consider, including the lab's location, service level, and workflow.
In a talk at last month's Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) annual meeting, Dr. Bradley Erickson, Ph.D., discussed the details of developing a 3D lab, and shared some tips for how to most effectively implement it.
Our coverage of the SIIM presentation is the subject of this month's Insider Exclusive, which you have access to in advance of our regular members. To learn more about how and why to implement a 3D lab, click here.
We're also featuring coverage of the recent Computer Assisted Radiology and Surgery (CARS) meeting this month in your Advanced Visualization Digital Community. International editor Eric Barnes was on hand in Berlin and has filed reports on a liver segmentation tool, a computer-aided detection (CAD) tool that can successfully follow lung nodules over time, and the future of personalized medicine. Stay tuned for future coverage from both SIIM and CARS in the coming weeks.
In another featured article, chest x-ray CAD is showing promise for detecting overlooked subtle lung cancer. And 3D fusion software was found to improve cardiac analysis.
