Axial3D raises $3M to expand 3D printing services to U.S.

U.K.-based 3D printing firm Axial3D has raised $3 million to extend its 3D printing technology and services to healthcare institutions across the U.S.

The investment follows Axial3D's recent collaborations with Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare in Florida and University Hospital Basel in Switzerland to expand its access to the U.S. and European markets, the company said. Specifically, the funds will support the opening of a new office in the U.S. and bolster Axial3D's work on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms into the medical 3D printing workflow, according to the firm.

The funding round was led by venture capital firm Imprimatur Capital Fund Management, with backing from a U.S. investment consortium as well as several of the firm's previous investors, including Techstart Ventures, Clarendon Fund Managers, and Innovation Ulster.
