Advanced visualization software developer Fovia is introducing its F.A.S.T. interactive segmentation software this week at RSNA 2015 in Chicago.
Powered by Fovia's XStream HDVR, the new software provides real-time, interactive 3D segmentation, reducing complex case times and expediting reporting, according to the company. OEMs can create visualization applications based on F.A.S.T. interactive segmentation in areas such as quantitative imaging, radiation therapy, surgical planning, robotic surgery, 3D printing, and more, Fovia said.
Radiologists typically segment regions of interest manually or rely on "automatic" segmentation algorithms, which are not fail-safe, leaving radiologists with the time-consuming task of correcting these segmentations in 2D, slice by slice, or ignoring the results altogether, the company noted. The new F.A.S.T. segmentation software enables a user to quickly and easily segment and modify anatomic regions of interest.
Continuous control of segmentation parameters and access to instantaneous results via high-fidelity 3D rendering allow cases to be accurately segmented, adjusted, and analyzed in seconds, according to Fovia. Additionally, the software is designed to complement existing, automatic segmentation algorithms, allowing rapid, real-time "cleanup" of data.
