The Medical Imaging and Data Resource Center's (MIDRC) COVIDx artificial intelligence (AI) challenge is officially underway.

In COVIDx, participating teams will be training an AI model to distinguish between COVID-negative and COVID-positive patients using frontal-view portable chest radiographs, according to MIDRC. The International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE) will be providing a total of $10,000 in cash prizes to eligible teams.

The training phase and mandatory Docker practice session began on September 6. This phase will end on October 3 at noon ET, and registration will also close on that date. The validation phase will then run until October 24 at noon ET, when the test phase will begin. The challenge will end on November 7 at 5 p.m. ET.

The top-ranked finishers will be announced at RSNA 2022, which will be held November 27 to December 1 in Chicago. More information can be found on the challenge's website.
