Java-based RadConnect RIS will be showcased at the meeting.
RIS developer VitalWorks of Ridgefield, CT, will highlight its RadConnect RIS product at this year’s RSNA. The application is built on the platform-independent Sun Microsystems Java, with a browser-based graphical user interface that runs on standard browsers such as Microsoft Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
Because the application runs only on a single server, there is no application-specific client software that requires loading on user workstations. According to the firm, this architecture provides measurable performance benefits, increased security, and unlimited scalability throughout the imaging enterprise. In addition, all system management and updating takes place on a single server.
Radconnect RIS is targeted toward radiology practices and imaging centers of any size, and is available now in the U.S., VitalWorks said.
