DR Systems will exhibit the company's unified RIS/PACS platform with enhanced electronic medical record (EMR) integration and improved RIS features as part of the company's next software release, version 8.
The San Diego firm said it has extended scalability with the capacity for at least 1 million immediate online records, as well as millions more records available within seconds. In addition, it has enhanced patient management tools for the RIS, including Web-based scheduling for referring doctors, patient tracking, output to billing systems, film tracking, and new management reports.
The vendor has also created a WebLaunch feature for single sign-on integration capability with other hospital information systems (HIS) or an electronic health record. Clinicians can log on to the HIS to access a patient's record and launch images with appropriate documents and notes, and hear an audio summary, according to DR Systems.
The firm has also integrated connectivity features for those customers who may be participating in a regional health information organization (RHIO), as well as enhancing its DICOM and Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) support.
Release 8 will be available in the U.S. in 2006, DR Systems said.
