Healthcare software developer HIPAAT of Mississauga, Ontario, will introduce two new products to RSNA 2005 attendees: its ATNA Auditlog Toolkit (Sun Microsystems Java version) and Privacy Manager.
The Audit Trail and Node Authentication (ATNA) Auditlog Toolkit is a software module that integrates with modality equipment to create Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE)-compliant XML audit messages in accordance with the ATNA profile. The toolkit provides guidance in integrating audit logging within a clinical system, and offers test tools that assist with understanding, developing, and testing an audit log system, the vendor said.
The toolkit is appropriate for any modality, supports legacy devices as well as new systems, and is currently available worldwide, HIPAAT said.
Privacy Manager supports the privacy of electronic protected health information (ePHI) via a software application that enables healthcare providers to manage patient-imposed privacy restrictions. It permits emergency override access to ePHI and prevents internal security breaches, such as a clinician unnecessarily accessing the ePHI of a co-worker admitted to the healthcare facility as a patient, according to HIPAAT. It also generates security audit messages when breaches (such as emergency override access to ePHI) do occur.
The application integrates with existing hospital IT architecture and clinical workstations, and generates IHE-compliant audit messages. Privacy Manager will be available to PACS and HIS/RIS vendors worldwide in the first quarter of 2006, the company said.
