Philips Healthcare parent Royal Philips and professional services firm Cognizant have announced a strategic alliance to develop digital health offerings for healthcare organizations and life sciences companies.
The collaboration will bring together Philips' HealthSuite cloud-based healthcare platform with Cognizant's digital engineering capabilities in an initiative aimed at improving patient care and speeding up clinical trials, according to the companies. Specifically, Cognizant will develop and operate client-specific applications on HealthSuite that will integrate advanced analytics to provide relevant data to the appropriate point of care, Philips and Cognizant said.
Healthcare providers will be able to use these applications to monitor their patients outside of traditional clinical settings, while patients can also stay more informed on their condition, according to the firms. What's more, these analytics capabilities will enable biopharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers to make more informed clinical development decisions and accelerate development time, according to Philips and Cognizant.
In addition, the vendors said that life science companies will benefit from improved remote patient monitoring and decentralized clinical trials facilitated by HealthSuite's medical device connectivity, data integration, and analysis functionality.
