Network Appliance launches storage units

Archiving technology developer Network Appliance of Sunnyvale, CA, has launched two new midrange storage systems designed for the medical research and biotechnology markets.

The company's NetApp FAS3020 and FAS3050 are designed for facilities where data crunching and modeling, records management, and a collaborative work environment are important. The systems deliver up to twice the price/performance ratio and allow more users per system than the previous generation of FAS storage systems, according to the company.

They include a storage capacity of up to 84 TB (terabytes) and 336 disks, and are available in a SATA (serial advanced technology attachment) storage option. Network Appliance is also launching new visualization engines with the archives.
