Medical imaging generates $3B in Wash.

The medical imaging technology industry supports an estimated 12,000 jobs and generates approximately $3.1 billion in total economic activity in the state of Washington.

Those numbers come from a new economic impact study commissioned by the Medical Imaging and Technology Alliance (MITA).

The analysis also found that the production of medical imaging technology and its use in hospitals and other medical facilities yields $1.8 billion in direct economic output, while the industry's suppliers and employees support an additional 7,600 jobs and fuel an additional $1.3 billion in Washington's economy.

Additionally, the taxes paid by the state's 37 medical imaging technology firms, their suppliers, and their employees provide $428 million in revenues to federal, state, and local governments.

The analysis was conducted by John Dunham and Assoc., using data provided by Dun & Bradstreet, the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, and the Washington state government.
