Toshiba Medical Systems will officially change its company name to Canon Medical Systems on January 4, 2018.
The name change comes 13 months after Canon acquired Toshiba for $6 billion and incorporated the company into Canon's Industry and Others business unit. The segment includes Canon's medical imaging products such as digital radiography that predated the Toshiba acquisition.
Since the December 2016 acquisition, Toshiba Medical Systems has pursued regulatory approval to integrate with Canon and change the company name to comply with national or regional pharmaceutical and medical device regulations.
