Video-capsule manufacturer Given Imaging has partnered with Micron Technology and Zarlink Semiconductor in the development of a third-generation PillCam SB for the small bowel.
The Yoqneam, Israel-based firm said the new product will double PillCam SB's frame rate from two to four frames per second, offer enhanced viewing capacity, increase its operational time from eight to nine hours, and incorporate new optical and image sensor technology.
The new capsule is expected to be commercially available in 2006.
