The American College of Radiology (ACR) Board of Chancellors has elected Dr. Geraldine McGinty as its new chair. She is the first woman to hold that post in the ACR's nearly 100-year history.
A practicing radiologist in New York City and a faculty member at Weill Cornell Medicine, McGinty served as vice chair of the ACR's Board of Chancellors for the past two years and previously chaired the ACR Commission on Economics. She is a leader of the ACR's Imaging 3.0 initiative and also received the ACR's 2018 William T. Thorwarth Award, which is given by the college to individuals who demonstrate outstanding contributions to the field of health policy and economics for radiology.
The ACR also announced several other board appointments:
- Dr. Howard Fleishon of Emory Johns Creek Hospital in Johns Creek, GA, as vice chair
- Dr. James Brink of Massachusetts General Hospital as president
- Dr. Marta Hernanz-Schulman of Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt as vice president
All of the appointments took effect at this week's ACR 2018 annual meeting in Washington, DC.
