
The American College of Radiology (ACR) has released six new topics and updated 10 others in its appropriateness criteria.
The new topics include the following:
- Imaging of mediastinal masses
- Postmenopausal acute pelvic pain
- Second and third trimester screening for fetal anomaly
- Staging and follow-up of vulvar cancer
- Syncope
- Radiologic management of portal hypertension
The 10 revised topics include the following:
- Asymptomatic patient at risk for coronary artery disease
- Head trauma
- Infective endocarditis
- Intensive care unit patients
- Myelopathy
- Nonischemic myocardial disease with clinical manifestations (ischemic cardiomyopathy already excluded)
- Nontraumatic aortic disease
- Post-treatment surveillance of bladder cancer
- Renal failure
- Radiologic management of lower gastrointestinal tract bleeding
The ACR said that all topics include a narrative, evidence table, and literature search summary. What's more, patient-friendly summaries are also available for several topics, according to the society. The criteria can be accessed on the ACR's website.
