The RSNA announced it has appointed Dr. Jinel Scott to the Radiology Health Equity Coalition, a group formed by major U.S. radiological societies to address health disparities and measurably change outcomes.
Scott is a clinical assistant professor of radiology at the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Health Sciences University and director of emergency imaging, quality, and patient safety services at Kings County Hospital Center in New York City. She is a member of the RSNA's Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
This coalition will collect and disseminate resources and best practices, advocate for and connect with patients and community members, and collaborate on programs and services to empower colleagues to improve health care equity, the RSNA stated.
Scott's recent academic work includes a recent review article in Radiology in which she and colleagues Dr. Stephen Waite and Dr. Daria Colombo outlined the important role of radiology in meeting the healthcare needs of underserved populations.
