The board of directors of Pacific IPA, a Portland, OR-based independent physicians association, sent a letter to Providence Health System requesting that Providence re-evaluate its decision to terminate contracts with independent freestanding diagnostic imaging centers EPIC Imaging and Body Imaging Radiology of Portland.
Pacific IPA, which represents 82 primary care physicians and 20 specialty physicians from Northwest Primary Care Group, Oregon Primary Care Physicians, and the Portland Clinic, said that it wrote the letter to express its concern regarding the decision to exclude Epic Imaging and Body Imaging from all Providence Health System panels.
The physicians' association said that it believes it is in the best interest of patients and referring physicians to have choice in regard to radiology services.
