The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) code of ethics on vendor and customer relations will be discussed at a November 30 briefing session at the 2005 RSNA meeting in Chicago.
During the session, to be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in room S-404CD of the McCormick Place's south building, speakers will address recent indictments and other legal actions brought by the government to enforce the Medicare and fraud laws, according to the Rosslyn, VA-based association. The panel of speakers will include American College of Radiology assistant general counsel Tom Hoffman, assistant U.S. attorney in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Illinois, and Sheila Finnegan of Chicago law firm Mayer Brown & Platt.
The code of ethics was developed in 2004 to help medical imaging suppliers and their customers understand their legal compliance obligations and to manage and avoid legal risk.
