Lodox Systems North America has unveiled Statscan, a flexible-format digital radiography system designed for trauma centers and emergency rooms. Statscan is based on CCD technology and can provide a full-body image for initial diagnosis, as well as zoom in on specific smaller areas for more detailed evaluation. It has received Food and Drug Administration clearance, according to the South Lyon, MI-based vendor.
Employing linear slot-scanning technology, Statscan acquires radiographs via a C-arm that moves over and around the patient, Lodox said. C-arm allows the operator to easily capture frontal, oblique angle, lateral, or horizontal projections, according to the vendor. After acquisition, the image is available for viewing on a diagnostic viewing station.
A South African clinical study of Statscan found that average patient time required to produce diagnostic images was five to six minutes, with a mean radiation dose of 0.33 mGy, Lodox said. Depending on options, Statscan will cost between $400,000 and $450,000.
