Tennessee State Health Facilities Commission authorities have launched an investigation into a person's death following an MRI scan at a Premier Radiology imaging center, according to a May 13 report from WSMV4 in Nashville.
The report stems from an incident in July 2025 and raises awareness about implanted cardiac devices and MRI safety protocols.
According to the report, the investigation is focused on whether the medical devices, a pacemaker and implantable cardiac defibrillator, were properly set to MRI-safe mode and whether staff were adequately trained to use emergency medical equipment. The news noted conflicting accounts.
