Vascular ultrasound developer OmniSonics Medical Technologies of Wilmington, MA, has been granted two U.S. patents covering its OmniWave technology platform. The patent enables the deployment of the devices in a clinical setting, according to the company.
One of the patents provides allows an ultrasound device to be guided and placed accurately during minimally invasive endovascular procedures to remove occlusions from blood vessels. The other patent covers the use of an ultrasound device with the delivery of agents that may further aid in the dissolution of occlusions, the company said.
