Diagnostic Ultrasound debuts pediatric bladder-volume device

Volumetric ultrasound developer Diagnostic Ultrasound of Bothell, WA, has introduced a new pediatric bladder-volume instrument, Pediatric BladderScan BVI 6200.

The device is a handheld, noninvasive ultrasound instrument that rapidly determines bladder volume. BVI 6200 can help caregivers diagnose urinary problems and prevent unnecessary catheterization of pediatric patients, the company said.

The system uses the firm's V-mode 3D ultrasound technology to measure bladder volume. It is designed for use on patients up to 48 inches (122 cm) tall and weighing less than 60 lb (27 kg). The portable device has a scan time of approximately five seconds and measures a bladder-volume range of 0-200 ml, Diagnostic Ultrasound said.
