Philips Healthcare has rolled out CX50 CompactXtreme, the company's first entry into the handheld ultrasound market.
CX50 is a compact echocardiography system that features Philips' PureWave transducer technology and its XRES adaptive image processing approach, according to the Andover, MA-based vendor. It can support adult transthoracic and transesophageal cardiology applications, Philips said.
The system includes a built-in handle and battery, as well as a cart designed specifically for the system, Philips said. Other features include a wheeled case, Philips' user interface, iSCAN automatic optimization technology, the Tissue Motion Quantification tool, and the vendor's QLAB quantification software.
It weighs about 13 lb, with a size of approximately 14 x 14 x 2.5 inches. Shipments are expected to begin in the fourth quarter, according to the vendor.
