SonoSite adds to M-Turbo

Compact-ultrasound developer SonoSite has released SonoGT Global Targeted technology for its M-Turbo platform.

Designed for the global multiple point-of-care markets, SonoGT includes ColorHD, a color Doppler algorithm designed to increase color performance, sensitivity, and frame rates, according to the Bothell, WA-based vendor. Available on all SonoSite transducers, ColorHD works in parallel with multiple M-Turbo algorithms, including SonoHD imaging technology, the company said.

Other additions include Bluetooth-based SonoRemote Control for wireless system control from within 10 meters. This option is expected to begin shipping in the first quarter of 2009. Another new technology, SonoRoam, provides for wireless image transfer to a PACS network and to a PC.

Workflow enhancements on SonoGT include support for DICOM Storage Commit and DICOM Modality Performed Procedure Step formats. Users can also now enter patient demographics before, during, or after the exam, SonoSite said. A new USB barcode reader also has been added.

In addition, M-Turbo can now support ophthalmic and transcranial Doppler (TCD)/orbital exams, SonoSite said.

Customer shipments of new M-Turbo systems with SonoGT technology are expected to begin in the fourth quarter; existing M-Turbo users can purchase the upgrade as a software download from a USB thumb drive, SonoSite said.
