Microsoft partners with Mass General Brigham, UW on imaging AI

Microsoft is collaborating with Mass General Brigham and the University of Wisconsin (UW) School of Medicine and Public Health along with its partnering health system, UW Health, to support research on AI in medical imaging.

The collaborations will foster research tied to advancing multimodal AI foundation models that build on top of the Microsoft Azure AI platform and extend the Nuance (a Microsoft company) suite of radiology applications, according to Microsoft. In addition, Microsoft and the institutions plan to explore how advanced algorithms and applications can help radiologists and other clinicians interpret medical images, as well as assist with report generation, disease classification, and structured data analysis.

Through these collaborations, researchers and clinicians at the health institutions will work with Microsoft to further advance multimodal foundation models. This includes developing, testing, and validating the latest technology, as well as deploying real-world use cases into clinical workflows, according to Microsoft.
