Smart Reporting has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Fluency for Imaging to form a new diagnostic imaging-focused company called Jacobian.
Marking the move toward generative AI in radiology workflow and reporting, Smart Reporting founder Prof. Dr. Wieland Sommer will be among those leading Jacobian. The new company plans to offer a single, integrated product that combines AI and speech and language technology with standardized, computable clinical reporting.
Described as a holistic approach for radiologists, the integrated product will combine Fluency for Imaging's speech recognition and documentation technology and integrations with Smart Reporting's standardized reporting, automation, and AI outputs, according to the firm.
The deal builds on a two-year innovation partnership and will accelerate responsible AI adoption at scale in everyday practice, Smart Reporting said. Terms were not disclosed.
Jacobian will be headquartered in Munich, Germany, and Pittsburgh, PA, and will exhibit at RSNA 2025 in Chicago.
