Infrared Sciences launches clinical study

Digital infrared imaging developer Infrared Sciences has begun a clinical study of its Sentinel BreastScan imaging system with the New York-Presbyterian Hospital and the Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York City.

The study will focus on determining the adjunctive effectiveness of BreastScan for early breast cancer detection, according to the Stony Brook, NY-based firm. Patients in the study will have been scheduled for a breast biopsy, either by mammography or ultrasound, Infrared Sciences said.

The study will correlate the outcomes of radiology, pathology, and Sentinel BreastScan.
