GE Healthcare will install its LightSpeed VCT at Round Rock Cardiology near Austin, TX, the first such installation to be used exclusively for cardiac applications. The announcement was made at this week's American College of Cardiology (ACC) meeting in Orlando, FL.
The LightSpeed VCT captures images of the heart and coronary arteries in five heartbeats. In a single rotation, it creates 64 submillimeter images, totaling 40 mm of anatomical coverage, which are combined to form a 3D view of the patient's anatomy.
LightSpeed VCT can attain a 43-msec temporal resolution, effectively freezing heart motion, allowing high-quality images of coronary arteries in submillimeter detail.
This will be the fifth install of the LightSpeed VCT.
The Waukesha, WI-based vendor also announced the installation of its Signa Excite 3.0T MRI system at Tarzana Advanced Imaging Center in Tarzana, CA.
